Health Stack: Kaytee Hadley
Each week, we tap our network of health and fitness experts to offer personal insights and recommendations.
This week: Kaytee Hadley, dietitian and gut health specialist. After struggling with her health for a decade, the functional medicine dietitian founded Holistic Health & Wellness to help others tackle gastrointestinal issues.

Kaytee Hadley is a dietitian and gut health specialist.
Kaytee structures her days around wellness, breaking work into chunks between walks and nourishing meals. "Early on, I did 'all the things' from a place of fear and perfection," she shares. "Now, I focus more on sustainability, listening to my body, and enjoying the process."
Califia Farms Organic Almondmilk: “My go-to for my daily post-workout smoothie and morning coffee or matcha lattes. It’s such an easy way to ensure I’m staying hydrated outside of drinking plain water and it’s so delicious and smooth.”
EWG’s Healthy Living App: “I am really mindful of ensuring I choose household and skincare products that do not contain harmful ingredients since I’m going to be exposed to them every day. I use the app Healthy Living by the Environmental Working Group to scan the barcodes or look up everything from my makeup and deodorant to household cleaning products.”
Snapcalorie: “Instead of logging food manually (which is so tedious!), I take a picture of my meal and Snapcalorie uses AI to determine the nutritional content. While I’m not a proponent of tracking food every day, it’s a useful tool for myself and my patients to check in every couple of months and make sure I’m meeting all my vitamin, mineral, and fiber needs.”
Apple Watch: “My Apple Watch is an incredibly helpful tool for keeping me active during work days. I love the hourly movement reminders and visibility to see how many steps and exercise minutes I’ve accumulated during the day.”
Pottery Classes: “While pottery classes may not seem like a ‘health’ activity, I find it to be incredibly valuable for my mental well-being. It’s easy to let go of creativity as we get older, and not only is it calming for my mind and nervous system, but doing pottery has also helped me to prioritize my interests outside of work.”
On Our Radar
Interesting stories we spotted this week →
Scroll less. You've heard of Dry January, but what about Phone-Free February? Instead of challenging our relationship with alcohol, this movement highlights smartphone addiction. With a third of Americans "almost constantly" online, this digital reset encourages creating intentional boundaries. Start small: disable notifications or make the bedroom a phone-free space to rediscover life beyond the scroll.
Rise and grind. Your morning coffee isn't just powering your day – it might extend your life. A study of 40,000+ adults found morning coffee drinkers had a 16% lower risk of death and slashed cardiovascular death risk by 31% compared to non-coffee drinkers. Dr. Rhonda Patrick suggests these benefits likely come from coffee's antioxidant compounds (aka polyphenols) or how it helps energize us while keeping our sleep-wake cycle in check.
Elite recovery. Heart rate recovery (HRR) shows how fast your body bounces back from intense exercise – a sign of top-tier fitness. While biohacker Brian Johnson brags about his elite HRR of 37, measuring yours is simple: record your heart rate after exercise, wait a minute, check again, and subtract. To boost your score: mix Zone 2 cardio with HIIT, practice slow breathing, and nail the basics: cut caffeine after 2pm and prioritize sleep. No extreme biohacking needed.
Power of place. Your zip code shapes your health more than your genetic code – and science backs this up. A study of 5,000+ twins found that neighborhood design directly influences how much we move. More walkable areas make daily movement the default and promote community connections. The impact? Where and how we live influences up to 90% of our health outcomes, which could make or break our wellness habits.
