Health Stack: Jess Kane’s travel essentials

Each week, we tap our network of health and fitness experts to offer personal insights and recommendations.

This week: Jess Kane, CMO and co-owner of BodyBio. "When I travel, I focus on health at the cellular level — supporting mitochondrial function, reducing oxidative stress, and protecting my gut." Jess explains. “It helps me stay fully engaged instead of spending the trip recovering."

Here’s Jess to share her travel must-haves:

  • BodyBio Butyrate: “This is a must, because travel disrupts digestion.Butyrate’s formula helps me maintain regularity and digestive comfort, especially across time zones.”

  • H2 Tablets for Water: “Hydration is non-negotiable, but water quality varies. These hydrogen tablets supercharge water with antioxidants. I start every morning with one to combat oxidative stress, boost energy, and fight jet lag.”

  • Xclear Nasal Spray: “Airplanes and hotels are breeding grounds for pathogens. This xylitol-based nasal spray creates a protective barrier against airborne irritants. I use it before and after flights to maintain respiratory support”

  • BIODANCE Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask: “Long flights wreck my skin. These collagen sheet masks are my secret weapon for arriving looking refreshed rather than travel-worn. I apply one mid-flight (yes, I'm that person!) and wake up with hydrated, plump skin.”

  • EMR-tek Blue Light Blocking Glasses: “Screens are unavoidable while traveling. These glasses cut eye strain and help regulate my sleep cycle when I’m on the go. ”

  • Organo Gold Coffee: “This adaptogen-infused coffee provides clean energy without the crash. The single-serve packets are perfect for travel.”

  • Flow Vibrate: “This portable vibration platform has revolutionized how I maintain circulation and lymphatic drainage while traveling. Just 10 minutes in my hotel room helps combat the stagnation from long periods of sitting during travel.”

  • Hilma Tension Relief: “Delayed flights, heavy bags, cramped spaces… this herbal blend is a cure-all, easing shoulder and neck tension, so I can arrive calm and clear-headed.”

On Our Radar

Interesting stories we spotted this week →

The dangers of underfueling. A study of 6,000 runners found underfueling significantly increases injury risk, especially for women. Injured female runners consumed 450 fewer calories and 20g less fat daily than uninjured peers. Low fiber intake was also linked to more bone stress injuries across both genders. With half of adult runners experiencing injuries, dialing in your diet may be the best prevention strategy.

Additive combos may trigger diabetes risk. New data shows certain food additive combinations—like modified starches, gums, and preservatives — may increase type 2 diabetes risk by up to13%. Avoid processed foods with additive clusters (starch + gum + sweetener + acid)to reduce metabolic stress.

Protein is protein. In a controlled trial, researchers found no differences in muscle growth between those eating plant or animal-based proteins. Protein timing also had no impact on muscle gains. Lead researcher Nicholas Burd explains: "As long as you're getting sufficient high-quality protein from your food, then it really doesn't make a difference."

Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon.

Breaking barriers. Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon will attempt to become the first woman to break the 4-minute mile this June in Paris. Backed by Nike, the current women's mile world record holder (4:07.64) is optimizing every detail — from footwear and apparel to aerodynamics — to make history.

Longevity inspiration. 82-year-old sprinter Domenic Stellato won the Masters 100m dash at the Penn Relays, clocking at 16.02 seconds. His achievement is a powerful reminder that staying strong and active is key to maximizing longevity. Watch the race here.
