Health Stack: Mille Skat

Each week, we tap our network of health and fitness experts to offer personal insights and recommendations.

This week: Mille Skat is the co-founder of Danish activewear brand Planet Nusa. With a toddler at home, she carves out 2–4 workouts per week, mixing at-home sessions with group classes.

Here’s what’s in Mille’s stack:

  • Sala Studio home workouts: “When I’m training at home, it’s always with Sala Studio!”

  • Classes at Nordic Strong: “Nordic Strong has become a staple for me. As it’s opening in NYC, I see it becoming a set part of our visits to the city.”

  • Rhode Pocket Blush: “I feel my best when my hair has been blow dried and I’m wearing a little cheek blush. The Rhode Pocket Blush is super lightweight and integrates well on the skin.”

  • Prolog Coffee: “My motivation for getting up in the mornings is knowing that there’s a cup of coffee on the horizon. At the moment Prolog is my go-to — I like its tangy flavor profile.”

  • Heights Biotic: “My sense of well-being stems from my gut health. If my gut’s good, then I’m good. So I try to work these into my daily routine with a glass of water pre-coffee in the mornings.”

  • TRUBARs: “One of the bars I always stack up on when I can is TRUBAR. It just gives me that little kick, and I get a lot of joy out of having small sweet snacks now and then.”

Interesting stories we spotted this week →

Protein quality > quantity. A comprehensive review found essential amino acid density and digestibility matter more for muscle synthesis total grams consumed, so build meals around complete proteins like eggs, dairy, fish, or lean meats, and pair plant sources (like grains with beans or lentils) to cover all essential amino acids.

Exercise for your mind. A meta-analysis of 26 studies found aerobic and resistance training both cut depression and anxiety symptoms, even below the recommended weekly dose. The lesson? Movement is powerful medicine, and the “minimum effective dose” might be smaller than you think.

Ultra-processed progress. Ultra-processed foods still account for 55% of American calories, but CDC data shows intake is falling, down from 56% in 2017 for adults, and from 66% to 62% for kids. Cut down on UPFs by swapping packaged snacks and sugary drinks for whole, minimally processed foods.

Stress response. In a study of 3,500 older adults, Monday dread correlated with 23% higher cortisol levels for months, even among retirees. Researchers link this “stress echo” to a 19% spike in Monday heart attacks.
