Health Stack: Ariana Thacker

Each week, we tap our network of health and fitness experts to offer personal insights and recommendations.

This week: Ariana Thacker, founder and CEO of MoldCo. As a chemical engineer turned venture capitalist, Ariana created MoldCo, a virtual clinic for mold toxicity treatment.

MoldCo founder Ariana Thacker.

After battling the condition herself, Ariana’s mission is simple: make clean air and detox protocols more accessible.

Lately, she’s been testing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV drips, infrared saunas, and new supplements. But day-to-day, it’s about consistency, morning walks, weekly hot yoga, and regular sauna sessions.

Here’s Ariana to share her Health Stack:

  • SWEATHOUZ: “I go to a local spot weekly to sweat it out in an infrared sauna, typically at 165 F. I like to end my sessions with a cold shower. My skin is always glowing after, and I notice the impact immediately.”

  • Eye mask: “I purchased a generic eye mask with padding. I like pitch black darkness when I go to sleep.”

  • Air Oasis: This is my favorite air purifier to eliminate mold, bacteria, viruses, odors, and VOCs. I have two just in my living space for extra clean air.”

  • Pulsetto: “I use this a few times a month to help me unplug.”

  • Envirobiomics HERTSMI-2: “A quick dust test tells me what mold species are in my environment. I use one when I relocate or spend a few weeks in a new location.”

Interesting stories we spotted this week →

Record breaker. British ultrarunner Will Goodge just ran across Australia in 34 days, shattering the old record by five days. Powered by Cadence, he averaged 113km/day daily (equivalent to 2.7 marathons) at a 7:30/km pace, finishing at Bondi Beach with a Guinness World Record.

Exercise x vitamin D. A new study found that regular workouts help preserve vitamin D, even without sun. Participants doing four weekly cardio sessions saw only a 15% decline, compared to 25% in non-exercisers. Most importantly, exercise maintained the active form of vitamin D, supporting bone and immune health, in ways supplements alone cannot.

The protein bar problem. New research reveals many protein bars aren’t as healthy as they claim. Processing proteins into bars reduces their digestibility and nutritional value. Milk proteins drop from 98% digestibility to as low as 73%, while plant proteins fall to just 47%. For better quality, choose bars with milk protein concentrate or whey isolate, and avoid long ingredient lists.

Muscles remember. Muscles maintain "protein memory" of past workouts. New research shows that even after months off, your body retains strength-building adaptations, storing gains in contraction-related proteins while aerobic progress quickly fades. This research explains why rebuilding former strength happens faster than initial gains.
